nicolas cueille
guitar, voice, synths
Composer and multi-instrumentalist (guitarist, drummer, electronic...) primarily self-taught, Nicolas Cueille explores a musical path where eclecticism reigns.
From the quadraphonic noise of La Colonie de Vacances to the techno-guitars tunnel of Parquet, and even in the realm of field-recording (co-curator of the label Presque Tout), he approaches all the aesthetics that attract him with the same curiosity.
In his more pop-oriented projects (The World, 80's synth-pop - Pyjamarama, mischievous pop), he cultivates a musical style where complexity is hidden behind a rather obvious foreground, aiming to create music that can be both sophisticated and accessible.
Believing that music is fundamentally playful, he led the Seal of Quality project for about a decade, a one-man-band pop project with an 8-bit aesthetic - the music composed and played using Game Boy consoles - which led him to perform all over Europe and resulted in several albums, including "L'éternité" in 2017, a record commissioned and produced in collaboration with the artist Sadâane Afif.
He regularly collaborates with the visual artist Damien Tran, providing music for his experimental animated short films.
In 2024, he releases his first solo album of electronic/ambient music under his own name on the label "Un je ne sais quoi" based in Tours.
