HIPPIE DIKTAT / Black Peplum (BeCoq/Coax)

Ce disque est une collaboration entre deux jeunes étiquettes françaises qui me font flipper fort. Hippie Diktat est un power trio saxo baryton/guitare/batterie qui mélange skronk, rock psychédélique et doom. L’album est court (31 minutes) mais puissant à l’os et très convaincant. Ça me fait penser à Guapo, à Kruzenshtern i Parohod et à Seven That Spells, tout en même temps. Antoine Viard est monstrueux au saxo. Recommandé. 

This record is a collaboration between two young French labels that regularly get me all excited. Hippie Diktat is a power trio with baritone sax, guitar and drums. They blend skronk, psychedelic rock, and doom. Their album is short (31 minutes) but it packs a serious, convincing punch. I’m thinking of Guapo, Kruzenshtern i Parohod, and Seven That Spells all rolled into one. Antoine Viard is a monster on baritone sax. Recommended.
